Lindy Kinoshameg- Founder, Event Coordinator
Aanii, my name is Lindy Kinoshameg, Odawa/member of Wikwemikong, Event Coordinator and Founder of the Wikwemikong Winter Classic. Wikwemikong Winter Classic is a grass roots group dedicated to hosting an annual competitive road hockey tournament. The event is designed to support the community, promote physical activity, engage families and also foster the love of competitive hockey. It’s starting as an event but is part of a larger plan in the future for myself, to own a fulltime business that gives back to the community.
I am currently working as the Production Manager for Kaha:wi Dance Theatre and going to school at the University of Toronto for Kinesiology in the faculty of Physical Health and Education. Being able to come home for the holiday and visit with friends and family every year, I realize how short and precious our time is together. I wanted to remember and celebrate a special friend Mikita Fox, and do something he would have loved to be a part of. I'm combining my love for the community, hockey and my professional experience to bring us together for the 1st Annual Wikwemikong Winter Classic. See you at the game!

Chris Manitowabi- Advisor
My name is Chris Manitowabi, I'm a community member of Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve, I grew up from humble beginnings, born and raised playing and living hockey. This allowed me to become passionate about something at such a young age, which allowed me to use that later in life for both my family and my career.
I really enjoyed my childhood, playing road hockey everyday after school, it's a great moment when you start shooting pucks by yourself then next thing you know there's a full outright game with kids from the neighbourhood. All randomly and spontaneously without the need for social media, we played because that was the thing to do and we loved it. This also allowed me to have the opportunity to grow essential bonds and friendships, which is how I met Mikita Fox, the most talented and captivated person I've ever met. He taught me a valuable lesson in life from the short time I've knew him. "Smile, laugh and enjoy life, the sky is the limit". lesson gave me the strength and courage to get out of my comfort zone and explore the world. For that I'm forever in debt to Mik but also this great national past time.
Let us all honour Mikita and enjoy this great game with family and friends over the holidays!
